SDH is a time-division multiplexing (TDM)-based synchronized digital technology. For the networks at top layer, SDH is equivalent to a transparent physical channel.  Service Characteristics

Better stability: SDH, based on time-division multiplexing, provides rich error detection and correction capabilities with higher stability. SDH can form various ring networks with perfect self-cure protective functions, improving the serviceability of transmission chain.

High transmission rate: SDH can provide the circuit at the rate of 2Mbps to 10Gbps. It can be used as chain to support IP network. It connects routers in point-to-point mode.
