Solution to Common Problems

(I) Installation

1. Is it necessary to install software for “U-Net” service? Where can we get the software?

     (1) Articles in the customer’s “wireless aircard” package are complete

If articles in the customer’s “wireless aircard” package are complete, you are recommended to use “program driving disc” in the customer’s “wireless aircard” package and carry out correct installation based on “instruction of installation steps”.

     (2) The user’s aircard driving program is lost
If the user’s aircard driving
program is lost, you are recommended to log in the website of wireless aircard manufacturer to down load the program and install based on the normal installation steps. You can enter www.cnuninet.com for common installation problems.

2. If the user’s wireless aircard cannot be applied to your notebook computer but can be applied normally to other notebook computers

Two causes:

     (1) Wireless aircard is not inserted well

     (2) There is something wrong with the driving program of wireless aircard.

 Solutions: 

     (1) Insert the wireless aircard to your notebook computer again;

     (2) Cancel the driving program in wireless aircard and reinstall the driving program. Refer to article 1 to this section for installation steps.

3. Can call and send short message, but Connection icon is gray, connection internet cannot be made

Driving program of wireless aircard is not well installed. Please cancel the former driving program. Reinstall client software in accordance with “installation and usage guidance of wireless aircard” and re-insert wireless aircard.

4. How to correctly pull wireless aircard out?

If you want to pull wireless aircard out of your computer, please make use of the function of safely remove hardware in the Windows system to stop wireless aircard before pulling it out. Refer to the following steps for operation:

     (1) Cut off internet connection;

     (2) Double press the icon of “safely remove hardware” in the right corner of your compute, the system will pop up the interface of “safely remove hardware equipments”;

     (3) Choose the corresponding hardware "NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller" to stop wireless aircard

     (4) Pull wireless aircard out when the system pops up “device can be safely pulled out of your computer”. 

(II) Usage

1. Why dial-up internet cannot coincide with calling?

     At present, wireless aircard shall not support the function of coincidence of data service and voice service.

2. Why there is a prompt of “wireless aircard shall be checked” and how can I do?

It is because the wireless network connection signal breaks. Please restart application program or pull out the wireless aircard and reinsert and restart aircard dial-up program, it will be OK. 

3. Why there is a prompt of “port error”?

  Because:

     (1) Port of wireless aircard is not in normal closed condition;

     (2) Wireless aircard is not well inserted;

     (3) Aircard port is prohibited. Generally, just reinsert the card and wait for 10 seconds (because it takes about 10 seconds for the computer to identity aircard) and restart aircard dial-up program, it will be OK.

4. How to solve system’s prompt of password error by accident?

There is something wrong with the system software. Reset the wireless aircard dial-up option, of which the dial access code is “777”and user name and password is “card”. Reconnect and it will be OK.

5. IE is connected normally and there is no prompt of connection failure, but network cannot be used suddenly, why?

     (1) It may be the network connection sleeps or breaks. Disconnect the connection and restart.

     (2) Network connection cannot be disconnected, pull out and reinsert aircard and then start dial-up program.

6. Dial-up connection is normally connected but IE cannot be browsed, why?

Check whether PROXY (proxy server) is set, if yes, cancel the set of local area network PROXY (proxy server).

7. When starting to run client software, it appears “data card is being checked to see whether there is unread message; error in reading message, operation is cancelled”.

Maybe there is information in incorrect format in UIM card. Please remove the incorrect information by mobile phone (device-card separate aircard) or in business hall. 

8. Driving program is installed correctly and the indicator light is on when wireless aircard is inserted, but calling and internet surfing fail.

Maybe UIM card of wireless aircard damages, please change another one and try again.

(III) Network

1. Remote computer fails to response

Mainly because:

     (1) Data service of UIM card has not been opened or been stopped;

     (2) There is error in the network set of client software;

     (3) Dial-up program conflicts with other programs;

     (4) Client software is too old;

     (5) Operator signal is unstable.

  Suggestions:

     (1) Call China Unicom’s hot line 10010 to conform whether data service of UIM card has been opened;

     (2) Set network parameters based on “installation and usage guidance of application software of wireless aircard”;

     (3) Unload other dial-up programs or reinstall operation system;

     (4) Update to the latest client software;

     (5) Change a place and try.

2. MSN cannot be connected but other pages and chat software can be connected.

MSN server is now still set in America. Connection failure always occurs owing to long distance.

3. Wireless data network has been connected, but IE still cannot be browsed.

If other internet assistants and other fire walls are installed, close them and try again. This situation is mostly caused owing to conflict between two fire walls. 

4. Signal is weak and unstable. Internet connection always fails.

 Because:

     (1) Aerial is not drew out; 

     (2) Local signal is unstable; 

     (3) Client software or board software edition is too old;

     (4) There is something wrong with the wireless aircard.

     (1) Draw out aerial completely;

     (2) Change a place and try again; 

     (3) Update client software or board software to the latest edition;

     (4) Change wireless aircard and try again.

5. Manager fails to search wireless aircard device.

   There are the following situations: 

     (1) Whether wireless aircard is inserted to the computer PCMCIA interface?

Insert wireless aircard to the computer PCMCIA interface again. The indicator lamp will be on and wait for 10 seconds, and single press “reconnect” button by left key of the mouse.

(2) Whether the computer has correctly installed driving program of wireless aircard?

When wireless aircard is inserted to the computer PCMCIA interface for the first time, operation system will prompt you to install driving program of the device. Please install driving program of wireless aircard correctly based on the system installation guidance. When wireless aircard is inserted to the computer PCMCIA interface and there is no prompt to install driving program of the device, it is proved driving program of wireless aircard has been installed. Please refer to the installation instruction of driving program of wireless aircard. 

  (3) Whether wireless aircard is surfing in internet?

Prior to operation system accessed to internet, manager shall transfer control right of wireless aircard fully to operation system, so when operation system is accessed to internet, manager cannot be connected with wireless aircard. Please disconnect internet and wait for 10 seconds, and single press “reconnect” button by left key of the mouse.

 (4) How to judge whether driving program of wireless aircard is installed well or not?

Insert wireless aircard to your computer PCMCIA slot and press “my computer/ property/ device manager/ modulator demodulator” by right key.

(5) How to completely unload manager program of wireless aircard?

Some manager program problems may appear during usage process, reinstallation is necessary. Unload the manager program of wireless aircard with Windows’s self-support program, enter the system disc C: /program file and cancel the file completely.

6. When using wireless aircard, there is a prompt of error “678 remote-computer makes no response, please single press for more detailed information or support center to look for the error number”.

The code of 678 means no response, which is caused by local network situation. Customer service personnel shall explain users that local network problem is provisional or the local network is updating and sometimes it is inconvenient to use.
